Thursday Review: Crossroads Angling Auction Catalog Fall 2013

The mail brought a pleasant surprise yesterday -- the auction catalog for Crossroads Angling Auctions for their Oct. 27, 2013 auction. It's always great to see so much historic tackle in one place, and this auction has some really nice historic pieces for sale. They include some great reels, a lot of nice cane rods, and the collection of A.E. Hendrickson's personal tackle.

My Favorite Crossroads Angling Auction Items from This Weekend's Auction

Crossroads Angling is having its annual spring sale this weekend, and I thought I'd chip in with my ten favorite items from their great catalog (available now on-line). So here they are, in no particular order:

This Vom Hofe Perfection 360 is just incredible!



As a collector of A&I reels, I love this one a lot.



You just don't see many Acme Wire Reels sold…



I do love this C.F. Orvis reel in the box!



This is one huge Kovalovsky reel.



The only known Vom Hofe "Little Joker" will do very well, I'm sure…



This 1898 A&I catalog is pretty damn cool.



A Miller's Reversible in the box is always a great find.



The Night Radiant Bait is the coolest uncatlogued Heddon lure you'll find.



The Masterlure 8" popper in the box should make the salties happy.

Crossroads Angling Auction Auction This Weekend!

Steve Starrantino's new Crossroads Anging Auctions launches this weekend with an awesome listing of tackle. To view the online auction catalog at Live Auctioneers, and put in some bids, you can click here. The live auction itself is in Hillburn, New York. They even produced an actual physical catalog! It's super cool.

There is a TON of awesome tackle in this auction! I'm going to choose my top 10 items.

This Joe Janiciuras trout reel with leather case is flat out amazing.


An Ernest Holzman salmon fly reel would be incredible.



I love this George E. Hart Celluloid trolling reel.



A Kitchen's Trout reel is unbelievably reel.



Per Brandin is a true master, and this 702-2 is incredible.



Of all the incredible Theodore Gordon fishing tackle, this fly rod is the coolest.



This Rhead lithograph is incredible.



This Wakeman Holberton catalog is superb.



This Cabinet Card of this Pennsylvania fly tier is really cool.



An A&F mahogany tackle box like this has to be seen to be believed.



It's a really nice selection of tackle for their first offering. I will be bidding and hope that they'll do well!
