Lauritz Melchior (1890-1973) was a Danish-born tenor who gained international recognition for his work in the first half of the twentieth century. Considered the finest interpreter of Wagnerian opera of all time, Melchior transitioned into Hollywood and starred in a series of movies in the 1940s and 1950s that featured his amazing voice.
