Dickie Moore was a noted child actor and a member of the famed "Our Gang," which most people remember for the iconic characters of Spanky and Alfalfa. Moore seemed to have escaped the plague of most child actors, even though the roles he was offered after he grew to adulthood were infrequent. He did, however, carve out a significant niche for himself as a teacher of acting, writer, and producer (he won an Academy Award for producing the short film The Boy and the Eagle in 1949).
He retired from acting in 1952 and is best known for his roles as Marlene Dietrich's son in the classic film Blonde Venus and as the titular character in Oliver Twist (1933).
Here, he and his pal take a break for studio photographers in 1933.
