Deconstructing Old Ads with Bill Sonnett

Deconstructing Old Ads with Bill Sonnett

This week from the May 1914 issue of The Outers Book comes a truly memorable advertisement. What more can one ask for than good illustrations of all of a bait manufacturer's wares. I've always enjoyed fishing with older lures. I've tried the Lockhart Wagtail Witch and the Lockhart Pollywog. Nether seemed to have much action of its own, but I must admit I've always found the Lockharts have a simple eye apeal. This ad would make a great center piece for any Lockhart display. E. J. Lockhart must have had an artist eye as his small company catalog is also one of the most beautiful of the period.
